THE HUNTED AND THE HATED (2012) 13 mins.

Producer/Cinematographer/Editor

The NYPD conducted 685,724 stop-and-frisks last year. The Hunted and The Hated offers an inside look at the practice and unofficial policy of stop-and-frisk. It also features the first audio recording of a stop-and-frisk in Harlem.

In silhouetted interviews, current NYPD officers share their concerns about stop-and-frisk, and talk about retaliation from the department when quotas go unmet. With no safe place to file complaints or report systemic abuses, most officers keep quiet and public mistrust continues to grow. "We need police," one of the officers says. "But the police department's gotta change things."
